Blue Phoenix is among Denmark's largest recipients of surplus soil from the construction industry. We receive clean soil from construction projects, agriculture and recycling sites when it meets the requirements of the Land Relocation Order. Clean soil is a valuable resource that should be recycled or replaced with virgin materials such as sand and gravel – not end up in landfill.
When you deliver clean soil to us, we ensure that it is recycled sensibly – for example in topsoil products, soil washing, lime stabilization or dike projects, depending on the properties of the soil.
Clean soil comes from areas that are not contaminated or classified as an area. Urban soil is initially considered slightly contaminated, but can be reclassified as clean after sampling in accordance with the Land Relocation Order. Clean soil is defined as class 0/1 or category 1 soil.
At Blue Phoenix, we take samples for every 30 tons of soil to document that it can be classified as clean. There must be at least 50 cm of soil in the top layer.
The geotechnical composition of the soil – i.e. the ratio of silt, rock, gravel and sand – determines how it can be recycled. Clayey soil can be lime-stabilised, loamy soil can be used in new topsoil products, and sandy and rocky soil can be washed and turned into recycled materials. In other words, clean soil is an important resource that should be used in the best possible way.
Soil removal refers to the process of removing soil from an area and transporting it to a new destination. If you have large quantities of soil that need to be disposed of, you can drive it away to one of our many reception facilities that accept, handle and clean most types of surplus soil.
